Evolution of Matter: The Marquina Monolith

The interior design project for this prestigious Luxury Hotel redefines the reception desk concept, transforming the entrance into a sensory experience that evokes the very origins of the stone. The counter was conceived as a stylization of a quarry face: an imposing and monolithic volume that seems to have emerged directly from the depths of the earth. In this context, the aesthetic rigor of French luxury meets the primordial strength of the matter, celebrating the infinite potential of a millenary material that dialogues with contemporary design.

Phase I: Selection of Nero Marquina “Extra”
The selection of blocks with an absolute black background, free of impurities, to ensure maximum contrast with the white veining Nero Marquina Marble: "EXTRA" Selection, a material of rare elegance, renowned for its deep and intense black.

• Chromatic Purity We selected slabs characterized by a flawless obsidian background, where the white veining serves as precise, intentional graphic accents, never left to chance.

• Aesthetic Mapping: Each slab was cataloged and paired following the logic of natural continuity, ensuring that the vein pattern flows seamlessly across the entire desk surface, preserving the visual integrity of the original block.

Phase II: Engineering and High-Precision CNC Cutting

The technical challenge lay in translating nature's irregularity into a defined architectural geometry.

• Bespoke Angled Cutting Utilizing state-of-the-art CNC technology, we executed cuts with specific inclinations to recreate the “layered” effect of quarry benches. This craftsmanship gives the desk a unique volumetric dynamism.

• The Synthesis of Technology and Craftsmanship Subjected to meticulous manual finishing, aimed at softening the lines and ensuring impeccable tactile continuity bespoke hand-finishing. This step allowed us to soften the sharp geometries created by the CNC without losing their visual impact, ensuring millimetric precision at every junction point.
