project overview
Location: Miami
Year: 2015
Material: Travertino Romano Classico
Status: Completed
Vision and Conceptual Framework
For the renovation of this exclusive jewelry boutique in Miami, the challenge lay in merging the security of a luxury “fortress” with the luminous, welcoming spirit of Roman architectural tradition. The choice of Roman Travertine Classico is more than just an aesthetic tribute; it is a declaration of eternity. This project has transformed the storefront into a monumental masterpiece that evokes the magnificence of Ancient Rome, where the stone’s natural texture interacts with the sunlight to imbue the building with an aura of noble solemnity.
Phase I: Consultancy and Raw Material Selection
The search for the material began at the very roots of history: we selected the blocks directly in the historic quarries of Bagni di Tivoli ensuring the authenticity of the Roman Travertine Classico.
Selection Criteria: We identified slabs featuring balanced porosity and warm shades of beige and ivory, ideal for ensuring chromatic continuity on a monumental scale.
Sampling: Samples with varying levels of porosity were provided to define the degree of "openness" of the pores, ultimately selecting a solution that would enhance the stone’s tactile quality under the intense Florida sun.
Phase II: Processing and Workshop Engineering
The project required a sophisticated fusion of technology and high-end "stone joinery" (fine stone cabinetry).
CNC Machining: Utilizing state-of-the-art CNC machinery, we realized the complex geometries of the concept: concave and convex forms, molded cornices, and architectural profiles of the highest precision.
Architectural Details: The technical heart of the project was the creation of the “Keystone,” a symbolic and structural element that serves as the visual centerpiece of the facade.
Hand-Finishing: Despite the use of technology, each piece was finished by hand by our craftsmen to achieve a matte finish with open holes, preserving the travertine’s natural porosity and ensuring a unique tactile softness.

Phase III: Installation and Final Treatment
The installation in Miami represented the crucial moment in transforming the individual slabs into a cohesive architectural envelope.
Monumental Installation: The facade was installed to create an effect of absolute continuity, where every joint is designed to disappear into the rhythm of the travertine’s horizontal veining.
Protection and Durability: Given its exposure to a marine climate, we applied specific protective treatments that do not alter the natural color, while shielding the stone from weathering and salt-air humidity.
Final Result: The completion of the work presented the client with a facade that shifts in appearance throughout the day, transitioning from the austerity of a fortress to the warm, welcoming character typical of imperial Roman architecture.
