Calacatta 900: The Gateway to Design Excellence
In the cradle of the world’s marble industry, we have created a threshold that blends the millennial heritage of the Apuan quarries with cutting-edge technology. The project focuses on the creation of a shaped, monolithic portal for high-end storefronts, conceived not merely as a frame, but as a true architectural sculpture. The use of Calacatta 900 transforms the showroom entrance into a monumental experience, where the purity of milky white and the complexity of natural veining dialogue with the precision of contemporary design.
Phase I: Calacatta 900 Selection and Design Vision
The genesis of the portal lies in the raw material, extracted directly from the marble basins owned by the company Franchi Umberto Marmi.
The Soul of the Stone: We selected Calacatta 900 blocks for their flawless milky-white background and their wide, deep veining patterns. Each slab was chosen for its ability to offer a unique natural texture, capable of becoming a structure in its own right.
Monolithic Concept The objective was to transcend the two-dimensional function of cladding and achieve a sculptural volume. The marble becomes a vibrant threshold that anticipates the luxury of the interior furnishings, establishing a visual bridge between the raw material and the finished design product.
Phase II: Engineering and CNC Machining
The complexity of the project demanded a high-precision technological approach, transforming the marble through the power of digitalization.
Three-Dimensional Shaping: Thanks to the use of CNC machining centers of the latest generation, we sculpted the Calacatta 900 with millimeter precision. This technology made it possible to translate sinuous lines and complex profiles into solid forms, achieving geometries that defy the inherent rigidity of the stone.
Symbiosis of Light and Form Three-dimensional machining is not merely a technical feat, but applied aesthetics: the contours create a dynamic interplay of shadows and reflections, giving the portal a depth that shifts with the changing natural and artificial light of the showroom.
Scenic Impact and Installation
The installation represented the final synthesis between architectural grandeur and bespoke detailing.
Masterpiece Frame: The finished portal frames the storefronts like a master’s canvas. Its monumental presence does not overpower the displayed design but elevates it, creating a harmonious contrast between the solidity of the shaped stone and the modernity of the furnishings.
